US Mine Corporation Lab Technician General Description:
Collect and analyze material samples throughout the mining, milling and loading processes in accordance with established quality assurance procedures.
General Job Function:
Under general supervision, laboratory technicians are responsible for the collection, analyzation and documentation of silica sand and clay samples.
Samples are collected from the required areas within the mine site, milling operation and vehicle loadout stages.
Samples are analyzed for mineral concentrations, gradations and other physical properties according to international standards.
Samples are processed, analyzed and recorded within either of two of US Mine's on site laboratories.
A strict adherence to quality assurance and quality control procedures, US Mine's standard operating procedures, when handling material samples is essential to the overall quality of data produced.
Laboratory technicians are expected to keep a clean working environment to prevent the potential for cross contamination of samples.
Other responsibilities of the laboratory technicians include, but are not limited to the routine maintenance/inventory of laboratory assets to include consumables, equipment, tools and vehicles.
Required Skills:
-Basic Reading and Math Skills -Basic Computer Skills; Excel and Word -Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time -Operate various forms of lab equipment with understanding of their primary functions -Follow verbal and written instruction -Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little supervision -Follow all plant and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) safety regulations -Good communication skills -Work well with others -Ability to lift 50 pounds -Must be flexible with time to assist the needs of the plant -Time management skills Hours:
Graveyard Swing shift The US Mine laboratory functions under the hours of sand plant and mining production and can vary depending on the time of year and customer demand.
The sand production plant runs on a 24/7 schedule.
Applicant must be flexible and can work any shift as needed.
Overtime may become mandatory at times to keep up with customer needs.
